I spend most of my time with the management teams of our investees, helping them with their growth plans. In 12 years at ISIS, I have managed over 20 investments across all our service sectors. It is immensely rewarding to contribute to a board and really make a difference. You can only do that if you establish a real partnership based on trust, respect and having a common goal.
I joined Deloitte to qualify as an accountant. I spent 10 years there working across corporate finance, business restructuring and insolvency. Private Equity had always attracted me but I decided from the outset that I wanted
to focus on working with management teams and
value creation.
We have enjoyed a lot of successes but perhaps the most rewarding experiences are when things don’t come easily. I remember our investment in nursery operator kids Unlimited in particular. It was a long 7 year hold and we initially struggled to transform a really differentiated customer proposition into a scalable and profitable business model.
We reinvested every pound of surplus cash flow in growth, built up the capabilities of the business, and in the end made an excellent investment return. We still keep in touch and it’s great that kids has continued to outperform, despite the economic downturn.
About me
Little known fact: I love the Scottish Highlands and Islands and am an unashamed “Munroe bagger”. Harris is the best kept secret in the UK – mountains, lochs, sandy beaches and only a few midges!

Actions speak louder than words
Outside of work I… struggle to sit still, with 2 young children and hobbies such as fell running, hiking and cycling.

Involves fresh air, exercise and good food and wine
