Title: Associate Director 

As part of the New Investment team at ISIS, I spend most of my time identifying and engaging with interesting businesses and management teams with the aim of delivering a private equity funding solution that works for all parties. No two situations are alike, so the role is hugely varied and it is important that I have the flexibility to respond to the individual needs of a team or business whilst bringing to bear the collective experience of ISIS as a highly successful PE house. As head of the TMT sector, I also spend time working with sector experts to identify wider industry trends and market niches which may be of interest to ISIS either now or in the future. 

I graduated from Oxford with a Biology degree before
making the logical step into Accountancy with Deloitte
where I latterly focussed on financial due diligence on
a wide range of deals. This gave me a great analytical
skillset but I wanted to understand more about the whole transaction process – joining ISIS and becoming an investor was the perfect solution.

Delivering the investment in Inspired Thinking Group in 2010 was one of my biggest career highlights. ITG was a relatively young business but with a proven business model and vastly experienced team.

Our funding allowed ITG to acquire TMS, a business with a software solution which allows ITG’s disruptive service proposition to flourish. Working with Simon Ward and his team through a ‘land grab’ phase of expansion was exciting and challenging at the same time.

Outside of work I… am currently spending most of my time fixing up the house, decorating a nursery and looking forward to fatherhood. Once that is done I can get back to my usual schedule of extreme sports and death-defying antics.

Perfect day:
Big mountain, lots of snow, first tracks, soft landings, all topped off with a few quiet jagerbombs at the end of the day.

What makes me get out of bed in the morning?
Variety. No two days are the same at ISIS, but I love the feeling when you come out of a first meeting with an entrepreneur or management team thinking ‘that is an awesome business and I could really work with those guys’. That is often the start point for a relationship that will last for years. Working out how you get from first meet to a deal, is the fun part.
