Title: Investment Director
I am an Investment Director in the Birmingham office. My principle role is to identify, research, meet and work closely with potential investee businesses, management teams and shareholders. I also network extensively with the local Midlands advisory community and relevant industry leaders.
My job takes me all over the country and I am privileged to meet exceptional entrepreneurs who are really passionate about their businesses. I listen to the challenges that they face and their plans for the future. We discuss how ISIS can help to deliver their business’s next phase of growth whilst meeting the management and shareholders’ personal aspirations. Each business we meet is different and each deal we negotiate is unique which along with all the amazing people I meet makes my job so interesting and fulfilling.
I graduated from Oxford before completing the fast track graduate training programme in the Corporate Banking Division of Lloyds Bank. I moved to the Midlands to work in the corporate finance team at PwC focusing on mid market M&A transactions. This experience gave great insight into the complexities and pressures of negotiating major corporate finance transactions.
Working with Ian Williamson on the management buyout of Blue8 was one of my favourite moments at ISIS. The original transaction was completed under tight time constraints from a German quoted vendor. It was a technically complex but fascinating business and Ian was a straight forward, strategic and decisive individual to work with. He was a great Managing Director and although we have now successfully exited Blue8, Ian continues to work closely with us as an Operating Partner and Chairman on a couple of our portfolio companies.
About me
Favourite saying?
As Quintus Horatius Flaccus would say – Carpe Diem
Outside of work I… Spend time with my family and friends, garden, walk and cook.
Perfect day:
A day with my family by the sea at Salcombe with a fresh crab sandwich picnic lunch or wandering along the shore on Cathead bay, Lake Michigan finished by dining al fresco, preferably over an open fire.
What makes me get out of bed in the morning?
The alarm (weekdays) or my kids (weekends).
ISIS people are different. And we mean that in a good way. We don’t just provide you with advisors, but with partners who people like to do business with.
Connect with clients of ISIS - past, present and future - and share in the knowledge, expertise and support.
