Title: Investment Director
I am responsible for managing all our AIM and other quoted market investments at ISIS on behalf of our clients. I spend a significant amount of my time meeting with the management teams of existing and prospective investee companies.
I graduated from Oxford before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG. I then moved into equity research with Commerzbank and then Evolution Securities where I built a sector expertise in telecoms and technology and knowledge of large and small listed companies and
corporate transactions.
At ISIS I have been able to build upon a relationship with the management of Netcall, a provider of customer engagement software and services, which started in an advisory capacity when I worked at Evolution. A small company whose management I always held in high regard, I maintained contact when I joined ISIS and monitored the company’s progress. The relationship moved on when the company needed equity funding to make the strategic acquisition of Telephonetics during 2010. We acted as a cornerstone investor in the deal which together with further investments through the market enabled us to become the largest investor in the company and we are now very closely engaged with the board on strategic issues. We remain a committed shareholder and we are excited about the company’s prospects.
About me
Little known fact: I have a love of travel and strange desire to trek at high altitude leading me to scale various peaks in the Alps, the Andes, Borneo, Ethiopia and most challenging of all Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Most likely to say?
The market has been volatile but I’m still comfortable with
the underlying potential of our investee companies…
Outside of work I… used to travel far afield, climb mountains, play golf, go snowboarding, play guitar in a
band and try my hand as a part time DJ. These days with
2 boys under the age of 3, I find my time outside work
largely devoted to them and I am now very much an
expert in Peppa Pig!
Perfect day:
Waking up in the Alps with the sun shining and a fresh overnight snowfall. A day of snowboarding across untracked powder followed by some serious après ski.
What makes me get out of bed in the morning?
I’m very competitive and love learning about new things. The combination makes my job ideal. There is constant variety and food for thought for the intellectually curious, with every day likely to put me in front of a new company or new company situation.
ISIS people are different. And we mean that in a good way. We don’t just provide you with advisors, but with partners who people like to do business with.
