I run an investment team in London and we spend our days meeting interesting people and businesses, trying to find the deals of the future. A lot of it is about explaining why private equity, and ISIS in particular, can help make a business better and more valuable. Our track record hopefully speaks for itself.

Spotting great opportunities and working with talented people, both at ISIS and within the management teams we back, to create value is incredibly rewarding.

I grew up in Johannesburg and qualified as a Chartered Accountant, occasionally helping out with the family travel business. I spent my university years working part-time for
a bookmaker, where I quickly learnt about the reality of
taking risk. I always knew I wanted to work in business, and when I came to the UK in 1997, the opportunity to move into private equity was one I grabbed willingly.  I’ve been with ISIS ever since.

I love that moment, early on in a deal, when we know this
is a business and management team we really want to be involved with, and the management team reach the same conclusion about ISIS. A new partnership is born.

Little known fact: Nelson Mandela came to visit my family in 1995. I also used to be a decent tennis player (for a short period of time, in the early 80s!)

Outside of work I… Do homework, go to football, birthday parties, swimming and other associated activities

Perfect day:
Manhattan in Spring.

What makes me get out of bed in the morning? 
I hate getting out of bed in the morning – but at least I love what I do.
