Carnell Support Services

ISIS have completed a significant investment, using funds from the Baronsmead VCTs, into Carnell Support Services, a provider of specialist support services to the highways sector.

The business has two principle areas of operation; Highways Services and Communications Services.

The Highways Services division provides a diverse range of maintenance services which improve the efficiency of drains and prolong the life of drainage assets across the strategic highways network. Carnell's service seek to improve road safety and performance of the road network by increasing the life expectancy of the road surface, reducing the incidence of standing water and reducing the need for costly traffic disruption all at a much lower cost than alternative solutions.

The Communications Services division focuses exclusively in the highways communications sector, providing services to the principal technology providers who work directly for the Highways Agency, maintaining communications and infrastructure and helping to develop and implement technology solutions.

Nexus Vehicle Management

Deal value: £11m

Nexus Vehicle Management, an leading operator in the vehicle rental market, has been acquired by ISIS Equity Partners, investing funds from the Baronsmead VCTs.

Based in Leeds, Nexus enables corporate users with significant volumes of rental demand to source vehicles from over 40 suppliers online through a highly efficient and cost effective process.

The service is provided using IRIS, a highly advanced and fully integrated web based IT system which automates the process and manages the supply chain. This gives corporate users the benefit of a single source supplier and competitive prices, but also access to a very wide range of different vehicle types from over 40 suppliers.

CSC

Sector: IT & Media
Deal value: £20m

ISIS Equity Partners has added a new partner to its IT & Media portfolio following the management buyout of CSC, a structural engineering software company.

Based in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, CSC is the market leader as well as having a substantial presence in South East Asia. Its products include Fastrak, Orion and TEDDS.

CSC's current customer base comprises some 2,500 companies in the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia, and the business plans to continue international development opoprtunities in the USA, Middle East, India and Asia Pacific.
